TOMS FAMILY STORIES

(Neta's mother relates) "when Bonnie and Clyde came
through Arcadia Park, my mother and father fed them
twice, and they marked the telephone pole by the house
that they lived in which was near the railroad tracks,
to let others know. That way, Bonnie and Clyde knew that
it was okay to go there to eat without being bothered".

(Neta relates) "One year Clyde and Buck had bought a
brand new truck for my Grandfather, who refused it,
because people knew that he couldn't afford it. So he
had run it off into the Trinity River. My Grandmother
said that Clyde was really mad at my Grandfather, but
then later realized that he was right! She said that
they would get her kids Christmas and birthday presents,
buy them groceries, or order the groceries, by messenger,
having them delivered before arriving at their home".
